GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Yorkshire Dales National Park Walking Guide to the Northern Dales - Discovery Guides. The Yorkshire Dales is perhaps the best-known of the English National Parks and has so much to offer the visitor. Its landscape is extremely beautiful and pleasantly varied from green dales to purple moors in a predominantly farming environment.
This remarkable National Park falls naturally into two regions - the Southern Dales generally draining southwards and comprised of large areas of characteristic carboniferous limestone geology and its distinctive scenery.... and in contrast the eastward draining dales of the Northern Dales with their purple heather moorlands.
This guide features the Northern Yorkshire Dales and its main two dales.... Swaledale and Wensleydale, also known as Herriot Country, and their tributary dales including Arkengarthdale and Coverdale.
This Classic Walks of Discovery Series features some 15 classic walks in the Northern Dales and varying from 7 to some 14 miles in length. These walks are more demanding and strenuous and are for the experienced walker to consider.
The routes travel through some of the most dramatic and breath-taking Dales scenery and provide incredible journeys of discovery for those who have experienced them.
The cartography and route cross-sections are excellent and along with very detailed and sectionalised route descriptions combine to provide an outstanding walking guide.
Excellent value for money.
